Auburn, Sydney: Police continue search for mother after newborn baby boy found dead in rubbish bin
Emergency services were called to the scene after a member of the public made the distressing discovery.
Police are continuing their search for the mother of a newborn baby boy whose body was found inside a rubbish bin in Sydney’s west on Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to a unit block on Harrow Road in Auburn about 11.20am after a member of the public made the distressing discovery.
Officers attended the scene and established a crime scene as detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding the baby’s death.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.NSW Police Detective Assistant Superintendent Darren Sly said the baby was first discovered by a local woman who had been using the rubbish bins.
“It’s very traumatic for that particular lady who found the baby, and of course the emergency services,” he said, according to 7NEWS.
“It’s a newborn baby, who has now passed away, and of course, what else can we say?
“It’s sad, it’s a horrific set of circumstances.”
The mother of the baby has not yet been found. Police hold concerns for her welfare and are urging her to come forward.
“As investigations continue, police hold serious concerns for the welfare of the baby’s mother,” police said in a statement.
“Officers are urging the mother to attend her nearest hospital to receive urgent care for herself.”
