A woman has escaped injury after swerving around roadworkers and crashing into heavy machinery in the early hours of Friday morning.

Emergency crews were called to Walters Street in Blacktown about 1.15am on Friday after the 24-year-old driver reportedly swerved around roadworkers and slammed into a heavy road-profiling machine.

The impact forced her vehicle underneath the machinery, leaving her trapped in the wreckage before Fire and Rescue crews freed her.

Despite hitting the equipment at speed, the woman was not injured.

Sunrise reports she refused an initial roadside blood-alcohol test at the scene.
