Hills Police Area Commander Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore told media the suspected human remains were discovered in a paddock a few hundred metres from the house and had not yet been fully unearthed.
“It is covered by some items at the moment, which is obviously limiting us from being able to confirm that it is human remains,” she said.
Det. Supt. Moore said three people — two men and a woman ranging in their 20s to 30s — were arrested nearby shortly after the discovery and are assisting police with inquiries.
“They all come from an address in that street that police believe have some connection to the missing person we were looking into,” she said.
The street has been locked down and crime scenes have been established at the house and the paddock as investigations continue, with the assistance of the homicide squad.
“We’ve secured the crime scenes and are now waiting for our forensic police to come out and examine those crime scenes,” Det. Supt. Moore said.
