Bourke: Police investigating after child, 9, shot during overnight hunting trip

A young boy has been rushed to hospital after being shot during a hunting trip in regional NSW.
Police say the nine-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his right thigh and was taken to Bourke Hospital about 7.15pm on Friday.
He is now in a stable condition.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.“Officers attached to Central North Police District have been told the boy was injured while on a hunting trip with nine others at a property about 40km north of Bourke,” a police statement read.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have spoken with the group, which includes four boys, aged between nine and 15, and five men, aged between 37 and 63.
All are from Victoria.
Police say they have seized 17 firearms – including air rifles, rifles and a shotgun and inquiries into the firearms licences of the group are underway.
