A major police operation is underway at TAFE facility in Campbelltown, a suburb 53 kilometres south-west of Sydney CBD.

“A police operation is underway at an education facility on Narellan Road, Campbelltown,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The public are urged to avoid the area and follow all police directions.”

According to the Daily Telegraph, the incident began just before 5pm local time when a suspicious individual was spotted walking through the TAFE campus.

More than a dozen police cars are currently on scene with those inside the TAFE told to hide under tables and desks, the outlet reports.
