Central Coast NSW: Knife-wielding man arrested after alleged domestic violence assault, urgent police pursuit

A man has been arrested following a major police pursuit on the New South Wales Central Coast.
The 42-year-old was armed with a knife and rammed his car into a police vehicle on Thursday morning before fleeing the scene, sparking an urgent search operation.
Police were called to Goorama Avenue in San Remo around 5am after the man, alleged to be involved in a domestic violence assault, was reported to be standing in the middle of the road with a knife.

He has been taken to John Hunter Hospital for assessment.
Police first attempted to taser the man on Goorama Avenue, however, he managed to get into his grey Mitsubishi station wagon before ramming it into a police vehicle.
Police fired a shot at the vehicle as the man fled the scene.

Officers were patrolling the areas of San Remo, Budgewoi and Charmhaven as part of the manhunt.
A woman, whose age and injuries are unknown, has been taken to hospital for assessment following the incident.
No other injuries have been reported.
