A school is in lockdown and a student is undergoing assessment in hospital after they took a knife to the campus in Sydney’s northwest.
NSW Police said a teacher sustained a “small laceration” when confiscating the knife from the student at Chifley College Dunheved campus on Maple Road in North St Mary’s.
“Emergency services attended a school on Maple Road, North St Marys about 1.20pm today (Thursday 9 May 2024) following reports a student had a knife,” said a spokesperson.

Paramedics treated the staff member while the student has been taken to hospital for assessment. No students were injured and inquiries into the incident continue.
Chifley College Dunheved said in a statement the school would update parents when more information was known.
“To our school community, we are currently in lockdown,” said the statement.
“Please be assured all students and staff are safe.
“More information will be provided shortly. Thank you.”
