She was dead the next day.

It is understood sepsis, a condition not detected by doctors, likely killed the toddler.

Two years on, it is hoped a coronial inquest will determine whether medical mistakes cost the little girl her life.

“I feel like we owe it to our daughter to just hash out what happened,” mother Annah told 7NEWS.

On Monday, the inquest heard from a doctor who treated Pippa at Cowra Hospital.

The doctor found she did not meet the criteria for sepsis and a transfer to Orange Base Hospital was arranged.

“I was busy ... I wasn’t there to kind of watch Pippa unfortunately while she was waiting for the transfer,” Dr Suhail Omer Mir told the inquest.

The girl’s temperature rose but her blood was not tested and she died the next day.

Finding out what went wrong with Pippa’s care is set to be a long and drawn-out process for the White family.

This inquest will run for four days before expert witnesses are called to give evidence next year.
