Kayla Dawson: Woman behind fatal bashing of teenager Jason Galleghan accused of jail assault

A woman serving decades in prison for luring a teenage boy to his tragic death has been accused of another violent crime while behind bars.
Kayla Dawson, 23, instigated the murder of Jason Galleghan in western Sydney in August 2021 after wrongly suspecting he stole her Apple AirPods.
The 16-year-old was severely bashed by 32-year-old Richard Sione and a group of youths at her Doonside home.

Sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison for the murder, Dawson was locked up at Silverwater prison.
It was there she allegedly assaulted a prison officer in May, causing them actual bodily harm.
She has been charged over the offence and will appear at Burwood Local Court on January 14.
For orchestrating the attack on Jason, Dawson was given a shorter non-parole period of 13 years due to her intellectual disability.
As the adult in the room who started the physical bashing, Sione was sentenced to 32 years with a non-parole period of 24 years.
At a sentence hearing in July 2024, Jason’s mother Rachel Galleghan spoke of the pain, trauma and heartbreak that her son’s death had caused.
She urged the court to impose life sentences on Dawson and Sione.
Five teens who cannot be legally identified were in the room during the attack, parts of which were filmed.
Three of these teens have been jailed for murder while another was sentenced for manslaughter.
The remaining teen was found not criminally responsible after a judge found she was experiencing a psychotic episode due to bipolar disorder and did not know what she was doing was wrong.
