A man has been charged with the murder of a baby boy who died in a NSW hospital late last month.

Police say the four-month-old was initially taken to Gunnedah Hospital on January 20 but transferred to John Hunter Hospital where he died the following day.

A strike force involving police from the state’s homicide and child abuse squad began investigating the child’s death, and on Friday morning arrested a 20-year-old man in Tamworth.
