A 79-year-old man is in custody after allegedly shooting a 77-year-old lawyer in the groin in a building in Sydney’s Central Business District
NSW Police officers arrived at the building on Castlereagh St, which houses the Consulate General of Greece, the Meat & Wine Co restaurant and several law firms, just after 1pm on Wednesday.
NSW Police Inspector David El Badawi said attending officers found the 79-year-old offender held down by staff members at the premises and confiscated his small calibre semiautomatic pistol.

“They restrained the offender until police arrived.”
Mr Badawai said police were still investigating the relationship between the alleged shooter and victim.
“The offender is also in his mid-70s and he is currently at Day St assisting police with their inquiries,” he said.
The 77-year-old was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition while the alleged shooter declined to cooperate with paramedics.
Peniana Blair, 17, said she saw an elderly man get wheeled out of the building in a stretcher and police, some wearing bullet proof vests, outside the building on Castlereagh St.
“A bunch of police officers were just running to their cars and pulling on their bullet vests,” she said.
“I’m really shocked. We didn’t expect this to happen.”
