The mother of a young girl who took her own life says she ”begged” the Year 7 student’s Sydney school to address bullying concerns.

Her family alleges the 12-year-old’s death followed two years of harassment at Santa Sabina College in Strathfield and on social media.

Her grieving mum Kelly said she sent several emails expressing concern and asking for problems to be addressed. The first email, she said, was sent in August 2022.

She sent a final heartbreaking message to college staff the day after her daughter’s death.

“My beautiful girl took her own life last night because of the relentless friendship issues she faced,” an email written by Kelly and aired by 2GB on Wednesday read.

“I was scared to label it bullying but that’s exactly what it was. I begged the school to intervene with these girls and now she is gone forever.”

The grieving mother said her daughter went to and returned from school crying “almost every day” and did not deserve “girls to bark in her face” or “purposely hit her with their bag”.

Kelly says she wished she had been “stronger” for Charlotte, stressing also she does not blame other students for her daughter’s death.

Santa Sabina College says “claims” surrounding the teenager’s death were “new to the college and are not consistent with our records”.

Principal Paulina Skerman said the school’s “main priority is to support and care for students, their families and staff” as well as “support for this grieving family”.

“We are continuing to work with counsellors, Headspace and other experts to provide the fullest support,” Skerman said in a statement.

“Since last week, we have had onsite counsellors, our chapel has been available for prayers, and we have worked with Headspace who will be providing information sessions for parents and staff this week.”
