One-year-old girl killed in tragic accident in Western NSW.

An investigation has been launched into the death of a baby who was struck by a freight train in New South Wales.

At 7.50pm on November 7 emergency services were called to Baranbah Street, Baan Baa following a report of a child who had been hit by a train.

Paramedics treated the one-year-old girl’s serious injuries at the scene before rushing her to hospital.

Tragically, she could not be saved.

Local Oxley police were told the child had been walking along the road before being clipped by the train.

Police have established a crime scene and have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

The train driver was a 22-year-old man. He is uninjured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing after the crash.
