Newcastle: Wheelchair-bound woman left on floor of pub after wheel removed during alleged assault

A woman with multiple physical disabilities has been left on the floor of a pub after the wheel of her wheelchair was pulled off during an alleged assault.
NSW police were called to the scene of the callous alleged assault on the wheelchair-bound victim in the early hours of Saturday morning.
At about 2.20am, emergency services responded to reports of an assault at a hotel on King Street, Newcastle West, following reports of the assault.

The 23-year-old woman, who lives with hearing and sight impairments, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
An investigation was launched and police arrested a 23-year-old man at a home on Turton Road, New Lambton in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man was later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
