Nowra: Police enact manhunt after man escapes from correctional facilty in NSW

A local community is on edge and police have enacted a manhunt for an escapee from a correctional facility on the NSW South Coast.

Police are appealing for information to locate the man who escaped from a minimum security correctional facility on Wednesday morning.

David Johnson, aged 44, was last seen on The Links Road, South Nowra, about 7:45am with officers attached to South Coast Police District commencing an investigation to locate him after he was reported missing.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 185cm tall, with a medium build, brown hair, blue eyes and a goatee-style beard.

When he was last seen, he was wearing a dark green t-shirt, dark green shorts and no shoes.

Anyone who sees Johnson is urged not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately
