A young girl has suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run on Friday afternoon on NSW’s Central Coast.

The 12-year-old girl was crossing the road at Railway Crescent, Lisarow, when she was struck just before 3pm.

NSW Police say the driver of the vehicle left the scene before officers arrived.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the child for serious leg and arm injuries before she was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition,” police said in a statement.

Police have established a crime scene and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit have begun investigating.

“As investigations continue, police would like to speak to the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf believed to be in the area at the time of the incident,” police said.

Officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash — or has any available dashcam or mobile phone footage — to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
