Ten minutes after stealing a white Mitsubishi Outlander SUV from a Windsor Rd petrol station, the man pulled over near a 47-year-old woman on Mons Road, Northmead, and stole her handbag before driving off.

Shortly afterwards, he threatened a 19-year-old woman with a knife on Junia Avenue, Toongabbie, and stole her bag and then robbed a 49-year-old woman who was walking on Toongabbie Road of her backpack.

At 6.05am, he used a hammer to strike a 27-year-old woman who was walking on North Rocks Road, North Parramatta, on her shoulder and stole her purse and phone.

He ran to a shopping centre and drove away in the SUV.

Two male relatives of the young woman then tracked her phone and drove to the intersection of North Rocks Road and William Place, North Rocks, and approached the man.

They smashed his windscreen and the trio got into a fight before the robber ran away, said police in a statement. The SUV was being tested and the investigation included officers from PolAir, the Dog Unit, Raptor Squad and the Operational Support Group.

Nobody was seriously injured and police asked for anyone with information to come forward as they issued a description of the offender.

They also warned members of the public not to approach the man

“The man is described as being of slim build, in his early 20’s, with an olive complexion, with short black mullet style hair, wearing a black beanie, black balaclava, a black hoodie, black long pants, black gloves, and black shoes,” police said.

“Police are also investigating if the same man is responsible for break-ins committed on several homes in the same area two days earlier.”
