A man has appeared in court charged with murder after an alleged domestic violence incident on the New South Wales mid-north coast.

Police found a 58-year-old woman with “severe facial injuries” at the Ocean Parade property. She was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital for treatment. Just after midday on Monday, she died.

Police were told a man had been at the property but left before officers arrived.

The woman died in hospital on Monday afternoon.

Mr Mills appeared before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, where NSW Police successfully applied for an extradition order.

He appeared in Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday charged with four offences including murder (domestic violence), contravening a domestic apprehended violence order and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He did not apply for bail, which was refused. He is due back in court in December.
