Support has flooded in for the grieving family of a young woman who died at a popular Sydney brewery last week.

Savana Calvo was found dead in the bathroom of the Young Henry’s brewery on Wilson Street in Newtown, in Sydney’s Inner West at about 11.30 pm on September 25.

She had been at the venue, which was not far from her home, drinking with friends.

The 27-year-old’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

Her friends and family have been left devastated by the death of the “beloved” young woman, who they described as the “light into all our lives”.

“She was a cherished daughter, sister and friend who brought so much love and light into all of our lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her,” Adam St John-Foti wrote after Ms Calvo’s death.

He said those closest to her knew she “went through some trying times” recently.

Mr St John-Foti set up a GoFundMe page to help her family cover “the financial burden of funeral expenses and surrounding costs” for Ms Calvo’s farewell. The page has raised almost $29,000.

Mr St John-Foti wrote he was “spellbound” by the generosity shown to the grieving family to “give (Savana) the dignified and heartfelt send-off she deserves”.

“Your generosity will make a meaningful difference in ensuring that Savana is laid to rest with the dignity, respect, and celebration she deserves,” he added.

“We also appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and messages of support during this difficult time. Your kindness means the world to Savana’s family as we navigate through our grief.

“Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Together, we can give Savana the farewell she deserves!”

Ms Calvo, who was a model, is the granddaughter of Peter Calvo, the founder of the Sydney Guitar School which later became the Australian Institute of Music (AIM). His son Daniel Paul Calvo, Savana’s father, is the managing director of AIM.

NSW Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to Ms Calvo’s death and the matter is before the Coroner.

Ms Calvo’s father, Daniel Paul, revealed to The Daily Telegraph his daughter had been receiving threats and harassment before her death. He said he knew his daughter was being “stalked” and that he had “tried to intervene”.

“Although we were very close, daughters only tell their parents so much,” Mr Calvo said.

“There’s more and more coming out, she was involved with some dodgy young guys, owed money, and leading up to last week she was getting multiple death threats.”

He said his daughter had been involved in a serious car accident in Zetland in 2022 that causes a severe spinal injury and impacted her modelling work.

He said his daughter’s death was an “incredible disaster, a nightmare”.

“It’s crushing, it’s devastating, and we’re very, very grateful for the messages of support we’ve had,” Mr Calvo said.

Young Henrys was closed to the public on Thursday and police could be seen outside.

There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Young Henrys.
