Sydney e-bike rider hospitalised after allegedly fleeing from police
A Sydney man in his 30s has been critically injured after crashing his e-bike into a pole while allegedly fleeing from police who had tried to stop him.
A man allegedly fleeing police on an e-bike is fighting for his life after crashing.
The crash happened in the southwest suburb of Sadleir on Saturday night.
Police say the rider was not wearing a helmet and he is now in a critical condition in a Sydney hospital.

A police spokesperson said about 11pm, police tried to stop a man riding an e-bike without a helmet on Bungulla Street in Sadleir.
“Upon sighting police, the rider allegedly continued riding away from police before hitting a pole,” the spokesperson said.
“A 39-year-old man was treated at the scene for serious injuries before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
“A crime scene was established and a critical incident team from Auburn Police Area Command will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
On Monday, the NSW government announced a crackdown on high powered e-bikes with power outputs which more resemble motorbikes.
NSW laws cap e-bike top speeds at 25km/h. The newly announced crackdown included arming police with mobile units which measure the engine power of e-bikes.
