Four patients were assessed by paramedics at the scene, and three were taken to Wollongong Hospital.

They are believed to be in a stable condition.

It is not currently known what chemical was spilled.

The centre said it would remain closed on Wednesday.

“Due to a maintenance issue, the centre is closed, no classes will be held this afternoon,” it said.

“All accounts will be credited for today’s cancelled classes.”
