Two dead, two in serious condition after horror NSW car crash

Two people have been killed after a horror two-vehicle car crash in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

Emergency services were called to Yamba Road, Maclean at around 10:30pm on Sunday following reports two vehicles had collided head-on.

The driver of a red SUV, a 68-year-old woman, and a 25-year-old man driving a white ute, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers of the ute – a man believed to be aged in his 30s, and a 41-year-old man – were freed from the vehicle by members of the NSW State Emergency Service before they were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
