A 31-year-old nurse has been charged with the murder of her four-year-old daughter at their home near Ipswich, west of Brisbane.

A woman who stopped to change a flat tyre in Sydney’s southwest allegedly found herself at the centre of a violent attempted kidnapping, with police claiming two men had followed her before attacking her in broad daylight.

Emergency services were called to Browne Parade at Warwick Farm about 2.30pm on Tuesday following reports of an assault.

Police allege the 27-year-old woman had pulled over to deal with a flat tyre when she was assaulted by a man armed with a knife.

Detectives will allege the man threatened the woman before attempting to drag her towards a Kia SUV. The alleged attack was only stopped when members of the public stepped in, forcing the offender to flee the scene.

“The man had allegedly threatened the woman with a knife before attempting to drag her towards a Kia SUV; however, members of the public intervened and he left the scene in the SUV,” police said in a statement.

The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for facial and leg injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

Liverpool City detectives launched an investigation and, with assistance from Auburn Police, arrested two men about 4pm on Tuesday, a 22-year-old found near Duck Creek at Auburn and a 24-year-old arrested on West Street.

Both men were charged with robbery, armed with an offensive weapon and aggravated robbery involving corporal violence.

Police will allege the pair had been waiting for the woman in a Liverpool car park before following her to Warwick Farm.

Both men were refused bail and appeared before the Parramatta Court on Wednesday.

Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
