A woman was injured in a terrifying carjacking in Melbourne’s southeast last week, with police now seeking help from the public to find the man responsible.

Police say the 34-year-old was allegedly sitting in her parked black Maserati SUV on Atherton Rd, in Oakleigh about 6pm when she was approached by an unknown man who dragged her out of the car and assaulted her on August 2.

The Wheelers Hill woman suffered non-life-threatening head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

One of the good Samaritans, a 40-year-old man from Point Cook, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police said the man was in his 40s, Middle Eastern in appearance with a medium build, a beard, a moustache and shaggy hair.

He was last seen wearing a black coat, dark pants, and black runners.
