Jacquie Alexander has documented a bizarre salmon sperm facial, insisting “beauty is pain” after being left with red lumps on her face.

The Perth influencer took her 325,000 Instagram followers along for the ride with a vlog where she promised to be honest about the pain of the procedure.

Salmon sperm facials, which originated from South Korea, went viral last year thanks to celebrities including Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Aniston who have promoted the treatment.

A needle penetrates deep into the dermis to repair damaged cells while stimulating collagen and elastin production. The result is said to be healthy, glowing skin.

Despite Alexander’s face being smothered in numbing cream, she said the procedure was still painful.

“I’m so scared,” she said before the treatment started.

The Daily Iced co-founder filmed herself wincing as her therapist injected the liquid.

After one side of her face had been done with red-raised dots covering her skin, Alexander said: “Oh my god, I look like I’ve been hit by a bus.”

“Beauty is pain,” she continued in the vlog.

“Once it’s done, the pain is not there, but while it’s happening, it’s a solid nine (out of 10).”

After the facial was finished, Alexander debriefed inside her car.

“That f***ing killed,” she said.

“I wasn’t expecting it to be that painful, that was f***ed, hope I get good results from this.”

Alexander said her treatment plan included two more appointments, and the morning after, she filmed an update in which the redness and swelling had decreased.

After posting the video, her followers took to the comments section with divisive thoughts on the innovative approach to skin health.

“Afterward, your skin will look amazing,” one follower said.

Another said: “I have ptsd watching this because it hurts so much hahaha I haven’t gone back for a second appointment and am sticking to skin needling.”

“Honestly I could never 😑 good on you for this effort... I’m just gonna appreciate my wrinkles as I age,” a third added.

Another said: “Honestly hate this for you and think there are much less painful wait to get results.”

Other fans were surprised to hear of such a treatment while some were in awe of the amount of needle jabs to her face.
