Guns, drugs and over 1000 rounds of ammunition seized during alleged domestic violence raid in Tilpa, NSW
Police have stumbled on a massive cache of weapons including over 1000 rounds of ammunition during an investigation into an alleged domestic violence incident in the state’s outback.
A man has been charged after 10 firearms, ammunition and drugs were seized in the northwestern town of Tilpa on Wednesday.
Officers attached to the central north criminal investigation unit – part of the central north police district – commenced investigations after receiving a report of an alleged domestic violence-related incident.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.As part of inquiries, about 3pm on the same day, investigators attended a home on Tilpa-Tonga Road, Tilpa, where they executed a search warrant.
It will be alleged during the search, police located and seized 10 firearms – three of which were prohibited – over 1170 rounds of ammunition and a substance believed to be cannabis.
All items were seized for forensic examination. No one was in the home at the time of the incident.
Following further inquiries, about 8.15pm, a 41-year-old man was arrested in Tilpa. A search of the man resulted in police allegedly locating seven rounds of ammunition, which were also seized.
He was taken to Bourke Police Station where he was charged with:
- Possess 3 unregistered firearms, 1 is prohibited/pistol-SI
- Possess shortened firearm (not pistol) w/o authority-T2
- Four counts of possessing ammunition w/o holding a license/permit/authority
- Possess prohibited drugs
- Not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited
- Not keep firearms safely prohibited firearm
- Stalk/intimidate intend to fear physical etc harm
Police will allege in court the man does not hold a firearms licence or a permit to store or have firearms.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Bourke Local Court on Thursday.
