Public warned not to eat Uncle Frog’s Mushroom Gummies after five people hospitalised
Consumers have been urged not to ingest so-called “mushroom” gummies after at least five people were hospitalised with symptoms including hallucinations, anxiety and vomiting.
The NSW Chief Health Officer issued the warning for the “cordyceps” and “lion’s mane” varieties of the Uncle Frog’s Mushroom Gummies on Wednesday.
The gummies’ packaging claims the product is “infused with Earth’s finest hemp”.

But since April, at least five people have been treated in NSW hospitals after eating the gummies, with hospitalisations also recorded interstate.
In South Australia, a teenager was found unresponsive earlier this month after eating several of the gummies.
He was provided with treatment and had now recovered, SA Health said.
The patients presented to hospital “experiencing unexpected toxicity”, the Chief Health Officer said, with symptoms including:
- Nausea and/or persistent vomiting
- Seizure like activity and involuntary movement
- Anxiety
- Disturbing hallucinations
- Drowsiness or loss of consciousness
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Racing heart/pulse
Medical Director of the NSW Poisons Information Centre, Dr Darren Roberts, urged those who had purchased the gummies to not consume them.
“Investigations are ongoing as to what these products contain. We are strongly recommending that people do not consume these products,” he said.
A recall alert for the products has also been issued.
The gummies were being sold online but it appears the website has now been taken down.
