One ticket holder took out last night's $50 million Oz Lotto.

One lucky Aussie has just become the nation’s newest multimillionaire after scooping up the entire $50 million Oz Lotto jackpot.

The winning ticket — sold in Queensland — matched all seven numbers in Tuesday night’s draw.

The winner was initially suspicious when he woke up on Wednesday and checked his phone to find a number of missed calls and a message from The Lott’s Matt Hart.

Mr Hart told Sunrise the winner, a middle-aged man from the Sunshine Coast, “hasn’t stopped laughing and shaking”.

“I said to him, ‘This is a big prize, isn’t it?’ and he replied ‘Big, it’s mind-altering’,’’ he said.

The winner is now planning a radical life change — giving up work and paying off his house.

“It is funny because he actually spoke to his bank manager a couple of years ago and he was asked, ‘What are your retirement plans?’ and he said, ‘To win the lottery!’” Mr Hart said.

For the past six weeks, no one in Australia has picked the winning seven numbers needed to take home Oz Lotto’s division one prize, which has pushed the jackpot to an eye-watering amount.

The last time Oz Lotto had a prize pool this big was in December last year, with Tuesday night’s winner becoming the third-biggest individual lottery winner in 2024.

The winning numbers were 1, 2, 4, 18, 28, 37, and 47, with supplementary numbers 11, 24, and 27.

The lucky ticket holder isn’t the only newly-minted multimillionaire celebrating their fortune in the past week.

On April 4, one Aussie became $20 million richer after winning the entire division one Powerball prize.

The NSW woman originally thought she had only won $20,000 and broke down when she realised what she had actually won.

“I looked at it and then ran to my family and said, ‘I’ve won $20,000!’,” the Gladstone resident told officials from The Lott.

“They looked at it and then looked at me and said, ‘No you haven’t. You’ve won $20 million!’”.

She now plans to travel the world and use her winnings to buy a property.
