A three-week old has died after she was found unresponsive at a home on the Cassowary Coast region of Far North Queensland.

Emergency services were called to a property on Jones Street at Mighell, just outside Innisfail at about 9.30am on Saturday.

Police said the child was taken to Innisfail Hospital where she was later declared dead.

Queensland Police confirmed detectices from the Innisfail Child Protection nd Investigation Unit are looking into the death.

“An investigation has commenced, and detectives will work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” a statement from QPS said.

“No further information is available at this time.”
