A man in his 70s needed to be rescued after he crashed a bus into an overpass at a MacGregor intersection.

A Brisbane bus driver has been seriously injured in a crash into an overpass, while passengers were also hurt by the “sudden stop” of the crash.

The man, believed to be in his 70s, became trapped when he crashed into the side of the overpass at the busy Mains Rd and Kessels Rd intersection in MacGregor about 8pm on Sunday.

It took about 40 minutes to free him from the wreckage, before he was treated for what paramedics described as “significant lower body injuries”.
