Dolphin rescued after leaping into boat at North Stradbroke Island
A dolphin has been saved in a dramatic rescue after it jumped onto a boat off North Stradbroke Island.
Bo Sawyer was enjoying a day fishing with his two sons when the marine mammal leapt an estimated 3m into the air, breaking through perspex on the console as it landed in the back of his boat on Tuesday.

“We’re just waiting for a wildlife group to come and hopefully we get this poor fella out,” he can be heard saying in the video posted to social media.
“We’ve been keeping water on him so he’s all right but a little beaten up.”
Sawyer said one of his sons also received a minor injury to his arm during the ordeal.
Wildlife rescuers responded quickly to the calls for help, with lead rescuer Pauly Debono saying he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“We received a call and I thought: ‘Is this guy for real?’,” he told 7NEWS.
“We were told a dolphin had jumped into a charter boat.
“I’ve never seen a dolphin jump into a boat before.”
Debono said he worked closely with a SeaWorld vet to assess the dolphin’s injuries, which were deemed to be minor enough to attempt a release.
After recruiting a group from a nearby kayaking company, Debono lead the team in the difficult task of harnessing the dolphin — estimated to weight up to 200kg — and lifting it out of the boat.
“We got it out, into the water and checked it out,” he said.
“It had plenty of energy — I kept hold of it for a while before it wanted to go, and it went.
“It was incredible, we were wrapped. It was a top job by everyone.”
