Four boys have been charged after allegedly stealing a Land Rover Discovery and leading police on a dramatic chase across the Sunshine Coast.

Police were alerted to the stolen car travelling north on the Bruce Highway in the Caboolture area, about 45-minute drive from Brisbane, about 4.30pm on Sunday.

Three boys — aged 12, 15, and 16 — fled the vehicle in Noosaville, where officers quickly arrested them on Lionel Donovan Drive, authorities said.

The alleged driver, a 17-year-old boy from Margate, continued south on the Bruce Highway, with police in pursuit.

The chase came to an end in Forest Glen when officers deployed a tyre deflation device, forcing the vehicle to slow down.

The teenager then allegedly jumped out near Chevallum and fled on foot — but police were right behind him, arresting him on the spot about 6pm.

Police said the Land Rover was stolen from a driveway in Noosa Heads in the early hours of Sunday.

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with multiple offenses, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, entering premises and committing an indictable offence, and driving without a licence.

He has been refused police bail and was scheduled to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.

The other three boys have all been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
