An iconic Townsville pub has gone up in flames and two people have been rushed to hospital after a fire engulfed the building on Friday morning.
Firefighters were called to the Great Northern Hotel on Flinders Street at 6.15am following reports of the blaze.

One person was rushed to Mater Hospital in Townsville with facial injuries while another is being treated for smoke inhalation.
The pub has been standing since 1901 as an iconic building in the Townsville CBD.
