A well-known Aussie father has been found dead after failing to show up at his mother’s funeral.

Gold Coast surfer Jeffrey James Norris went missing last Wednesday after going for a bush walk to clear his head before attending the funeral.

But when the 38-year-old didn’t show up, his concerned partner Brooke Stone filed a missing persons report to the police.

A search was launched and his body was found three days later.

Tragically, Mr Norris had slipped during the walk and suffered gruesome injuries that resulted in his death.

“It looks like a stick went straight through into the main artery in his leg,” Ms Stone said.

“He had some head injuries too, we’re still waiting for the coroner to get back to us but I’m pretty sure he would have died instantly.”

A GoFundMe has been started to help the popular surfer’s partner and their two-year-old son Lucky during these difficult times.

“Donations will go towards funeral costs and to help provide support with future living expenses for Brooke and Lucky,” the GoFundMe states.

“Jeffy was a true legend and amazing to friend to all of those who knew him. We will remember him for his kind heart and unique character.”

The fundraiser has a goal of $100,000 and so far more than $30,000 has already been raised.
