Police have moved to reassure a community rocked after four bodies were found over five days.

A woman in her 70s was found dead in Palm Beach on July 21, following a weekend where a man’s body was discovered on the rocks at Echo Beach and another, believed to be in his 30s at a Varsity Lakes property.

A fourth person was found dead on the following Wednesday at Currumbin Creek near Whitsunday Drive, popular recreational and swimming spot on the southern Gold Coast.

Unfounded theories have been posted to social media suggesting there is a link between the four deaths.

In response to one clip on TikTok, where someone claims there is a “murderer on the loose” without citing any evidence, Queensland Police replied to reassure people.

They posted in the comments: “We want to reassure the public that there is no risk to community safety.

“All matters are being treated as non-suspicious and unrelated.”
