Man hospitalised with severe facial injuries after dog attack in Sunshine Coast hinterland

A man has suffered significant facial lacerations when he was mauled by a dog in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The man in his 40s was at a private campground at Kenilworth when he was attacked by another camper’s dog about 3pm on Sunday.

The dog is believed to have “bit him on the face”, according to LifeFlight.

Paramedics treated him at the scene for what were described as “significant facial injuries”, before tasking a LifeFlight rescue helicopter to take him to hospital.

The helicopter landed in a nearby field and flew the man to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
