Man suffers life-threatening head injury at popular swimming spot Crystal Cascades near Cairns
A man has sustained life-threatening head injuries at a popular Far North Queensland swimming spot.
The man reportedly fell “from a ledge on the way to Crystal Cascades” near Cairns about 3pm on Sunday.
He sustained a head injury in the fall.

However, the man has since been discharged.
The incident comes after a 20-year-old tourist died after failing to resurface at the swimming spot in March this year.
His body was located over a day later.
Last year, a father and son also drowned at the swimming hole.
The 59-year-old father and his 20-year-old son from Victoria drowned in April 2023.
Their family called for more warnings and signage at the location after the tragedy.
An 18-year-old local man also drowned at Crystal Cascades in early 2014, after losing his footing at the top of a waterfall and falling into deep water.
