The body of a man has been discovered after a car plunged into the Brisbane River in the city’s southwest on Monday.

Emergency services were called to a location near Moggill Road around 6.45pm after reports of a blue sedan going into the river.

Following extensive searches along the river by specialist police and other agencies, the vehicle was located around 11.20pm.

A man in his 60s was found by police divers inside the submerged vehicle just after midnight, Queensland Police confirmed in a statement.

The death is not being considered suspicious. and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
