A baby girl was rushed to hospital with eye injuries when two e-scooter riders sprayed a fire extinguisher into the backseat of a car.

The mother of a baby girl who suffered eye injuries in a fire extinguisher attack has pleaded with those responsible to come forward.

The five-month-old was strapped into the backseat of a car driven by her father when it stopped at traffic lights on High St in Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday night.

Two teenage e-scooter riders pulled up beside the vehicle and sprayed a fire extinguisher through an open window about 7.45pm, covering the whole car in white smoke and powder, including the baby.

The father struggled to breathe after the incident and rushed to get his daughter out.

“She was just in shock, her eyes were wired, her mouth was open, and she was covered in smoke,” the mother said.

The baby was rushed to hospital, suffering from dry skin, red rashes and bloodshot eyes that had to be rinsed with 100ml of saline.

“Heard a scream no mother should have to hear her child go through,” the mother said.

The baby was discharged from hospital on Monday but the mother said: “We have to monitor her breathing for the next few days.”

“I’m still pretty upset and it just honestly breaks my heart that someone was willing to put her in this position,” the mother told 7NEWS.

“If they’re not worried about the safety of a child, what else are they willing to do to someone else?”

The incident has affected not only the baby girl’s health but also ruined the family’s new car, pram, and brand-new car seat.

A close friend of the mother has set up a GoFundMe page, hoping to help the family recover.

She said the mother had only installed the car seat the day before, and the residue from the extinguisher may not come out of anything, with the car possibly written off.

“Setting up life with a new baby is so expensive. They do not have the means to replace their car, pram, or baby seat,” she wrote.

“Although no amount of money can take back the effect this has had on everyone, I’m sure it will make things easier going forward so they can replace everything.”

Another video posted to social media shows two people spraying what appears to be a fire extinguisher from the back of a bike.

Police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.

“Grow up, stop terrorising people, do good with your life. There’s absolutely no need for this,” she said.

Anyone who may have seen anything between 7.30pm and 8.20pm on Sunday, or any business owners who may have any CCTV footage, have been urged to come forward.
