Police have released a major clue found in the search for missing Queensland man Jack McLennan as the operation enters its sixth day.

He is believed to have left the area on foot between 8pm and 10pm on Friday night, and has not been seen or heard from since.

Police Inspector Scott Stahlhut revealed on Thursday that a vital clue had been found in the search for McLennan, after rescuers found what are believed to be his shoes, along with fresh footage of McLennan just hours before he was reported missing.

The discovery comes after police said on Wednesday that they had found “promising signs” that McLennan was “still about or not too far from here”.

The new vision, released on Thursday, depicts Jack attending a Lamb Street business in Murgon on October 4 around 1:30pm.

He can be seen getting into a car with a friend before heading out to Ficks Crossing, where he was last seen.

As the search enters its sixth day, Stahlhut said police hold serious “concerns for his wellbeing”.

“This kind of behaviour is very out of character,” Stahlhut said.

Recent weather has also dampened search and rescue efforts, which have included specialist divers searching in and around all bodies of water near Ficks Crossing, as well as ground and aerial searches.

“Heavy rain has impacted our ability to move freely,” Stahlhut said.

“We had some significant rain fall here last night and there are some waterway closures, so that is having some impact on our search operations.”

Signage has been placed along the Bunya Highway, urging motorists to drive with care and report any potential sightings to police.

Police are also encouraging residents to check their properties, including outbuildings and sheds, for signs of McLennan.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts, or were in the vicinity of Ficks Crossing between 3pm Friday, October 4 and midday Saturday, October 5, is urged to come forward.

McLennan is described as being approximately 185cm tall with light brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and dark shorts.

Police confirmed search efforts are expected to continue tomorrow.
