A man is in custody after allegedly causing a fatal multi-car crash and then shooting the driver of another car and stealing the vehicle.

Police say the man, who was driving a red Porsche Macan on Queensland’s Bruce Highway near the Aussie World theme park, caused a crash about 12.10pm on Monday.

It’s understood the man then exited the Porsche and approached a white SsangYong Rexton, shooting the driver in the arm and stealing the vehicle and fleeing.

Police say the man and the shooting victim do not know each other.

The stolen Rexton was found crashed in Landsborough, near Forestry Road, around 12.35pm.

It is alleged the man then stole another vehicle, a grey Mazda 3, but was arrested a short time later near Steve Irwin Way, with officers recovering a firearm from the car.

The man was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

Police have established three crime scenes — one at Palmview and two in Landsborough.

A woman and man, who were in another vehicle, were injured in the initial crash.

The woman has since died and the man was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police have urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it online at crimestoppersqld.com.au.
