QLD Police launch homicide investigation after child found dead at home north of Bundaberg

A homicide investigation is underway after a child was found dead at a home in a coastal town.

Emergency services found the child unresponsive after being called to a home at Moore Park Beach, north of Bundaberg in Queensland, about 4.45pm on Monday.

Queensland Police Chief Inspector Grant Marcus told reporters at the scene that a woman was assisting detectives.

“We’re trying now to process this whole scene to determine what on earth has happened here this evening,” he said on Monday.

“This is a really tragic evening.”

He said the investigation was still at an early stage and police intended to doorknock residences in the area to see if neighbours could provide information useful to the investigation.

Investigators quickly set up a crime scene and say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
