A 15-year-old allegedly involved in a vehicle theft in Murgon was discovered by police hiding under a giant teddy bear.

A teenage fugitive has desperately resorted to using a giant teddy bear as a last-ditch effort to evade police after a ute robbery in South East Queensland.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested on Monday, two days after he and three other males allegedly stole a silver Toyota HiLux as it was being connected to a food truck at the Murgon Showgrounds.

During the incident, a 50-year-old man who tried to intervene was allegedly assaulted before the vehicle fled the scene, still attached to the food truck that had a 52-year-old man inside.

As she opens the doors of a cupboard, she notices a giant tan teddy bear sitting at a funny angle inside.

She moves the bear, revealing the 15-year-old cowering in the corner.

The officer says “hey mate” before telling him he’s under arrest.

The teenager was arrested and charged with one count of robbery with violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.
