Three teenagers killed after overtaking attempt causes multi-vehicle crash in Glenella, north Queensland

Three teenagers have died in a devastating multi-vehicle crash in north Queensland.
The trio were in a green Mazda 2 travelling south on the Mackay Ring Rd at Glenella, a suburb of Mackay, when the vehicle attempted to overtake a semi-trailer late Friday night.
It collided head-on with a Great Wall Cannon travelling in the opposite direction about 10.40pm.

The driver of the Great Wall, a 29-year-old man from Blacks Beach, was rushed to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious condition.
The 68-year-old male driver of the semi-trailer, from Kelso, escaped injury.
A fourth vehicle, an Isuzu D-Max, veered off the road to avoid the wreck and the driver was not hurt.
There was heavy fog blanketing the 100km/h stretch of road at the time, The Courier Mail reported, potentially adding to the danger.
Investigations are underway.
