The discovery of a woman’s body in the water at a popular beach has sparked an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

A woman’s body has been pulled from the water at a popular Gold Coast beach, sparking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Emergency services were called to Crystal Beach in Tugun about 11.30am on Thursday morning after a member of the public spotted the woman in the water and pulled her to shore.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene but the woman was declared dead when they arrived.

“Police received a phone call from members of the public, who had located a female adult that was in the surf and was deceased,” he said.
“Those members of the public managed to pull the deceased person up onto the beach.
“We currently have police... patrolling the beach, looking to see if there’s any belongings or towels or anything that could be located on the beach.”
Queensland Police said in a statement provided to The Nightly that an investigation into the woman’s death was underway.
“Police are investigating after the body of a woman was located in waters off Tugun today, 18 June,” the force said.
“Initial information indicates that around 11.30am, a member of the public located the woman deceased at Crystal Beach on Golden Four Drive.
“No further details are available at this time.”
