A man armed with a rifle has been shot by police after a confrontation with officers on Friday night.

A man armed with a rifle has been shot by Queensland Police after a confrontation with officers on Friday night.
Police attended the Caswell Road home in Woodhill about 9pm to conduct a welfare check and found a man, 41, holding a rifle.
Officers then opened fire after the man allegedly advanced towards them with the firearm.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The man was subsequently shot in the leg and officers administered first aid at the scene before he was taken to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.
“Officers were initially called to Caswell Road around 9pm in relation to a welfare check, when they were allegedly confronted by a 41-year-old Woodhill man armed with a firearm,” the force said in a statement provided to The Nightly.
“The man allegedly advanced on police, and he was subsequently shot by officers.
“Officers immediately provided first aid at the scene before the man, aged in his 40s, was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.”
Queensland police assured there was no ongoing threat to the community and a crime scene had been declared.
The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident with oversight from the Crime and Corruption Commission.
