A 13-year-old girl has been left traumatised after three masked men broke into her house whilst she was home alone.

A young girl has scared away a group of masked men attempting to break into her home.

Three men arrived at the home on Perring Crescent in Rochedale — in Brisbane’s south — about 4pm on Saturday, and broke a window to gain access to the home.

One of the men then climbed in the window and unlocked the front door.

A 13-year-old girl who was home alone at the time saw the man and began screaming, scaring the trio, who then fled from the scene.

Her mother had left the home only minutes earlier to take the girl’s younger sibling to swimming lessons a short distance away.

“No property was stolen from the house and the resident was not physically injured,” Queensland Police said.

“The three males left in a stolen Blue Mazda CX8 with Queensland Registration 407HR6, which was stolen from West End on Thursday night.”

Rochedale South Neighbourhood Crime Watch member Damion Douglass said the incident was “very unusual” and that the estate’s paid security is not enough.

“We usually get (crimes) early in the mornings, or about 3am,” he said.

“It’s been building for a while, there’s been suspicious activity, and an increase to about 12 crime reports a week.”

The neighbourhood crime watch group doubled their amount of volunteers overnight, and said they plan to increase their patrols.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with further information to contact police.
