Redfern, NSW: Police officer killed in car crash after it collided with tree, another constable in hospital
Two police officers were in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
A police officer has been killed in a car crash overnight.
Around 1.30am on Friday, a NSW police vehicle was travelling along Gibbons Street in Sydney’s inner west suburb of Redfern.
The car’s lights and sirens were on and NSW Police said it was “fully marked”.

A female constable, who was a passenger, died instantly.
She is yet to be identified.
The driver, a male constable, was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
A crime scene has been established and the crash has been declared a “critical incident”.
