CCTV footage appears to show the 14-year-old attempting to walk away before a person charged at him, holding a weapon.

The alleged stabbing took place near a local shopping centre, with the teen walking towards a grocery store before collapsing on the ground, the Bangkok Post reported.

Police were alerted to the incident and on arrival, the boy was confirmed dead.

Police recovered a fruit knife on the pavement near the crime.

The alleged attacker fled, however, police located the boy at his home shortly after.

He and his parents were taken to the Sattahip Police Station for questioning.

The Bangkok Post reported that the teen admitted to police that he had stabbed the 14-year-old Australian-Thai boy, but left as he did not realise the wound was fatal.

The body of the 14-year-old has been taken to Police General Hospital in Bangkok where an autopsy will be completed.

It is understood that the boy has an Australian father and a Thai mother.

DFAT has been approached for comment.
