A multi-agency search is under way for a swimmer who got caught in a rip at a popular Sydney beach.

Emergency services were called to Bronte beach in Sydney’s east just before 8pm on Sunday after reports a man was seen in the water before failing to resurface.

Jet skis, rescue boats and a helicopter resumed a search on Monday morning after authorities failed to find the swimmer during an extensive search on Sunday night.
